Selection, sorting and preparation
At Ecolait, the breeding of milk-fed veal calves begins with selecting the best eight (8) days old calves available on the market. By choosing Ecolait’s purchase and transport services, customers are certified to receive the best-quality animal, handled with the best of care.
As soon as a calf is chosen, it is immediately identified and its origin is registered. The selected calves are instantly taken over by Ecolait’s experts and shipped to the Sorting Center (Allotment Center). The Center can welcome 600 calves, in observation parks. To make sure each animal answers Ecolait’s superior standards and respects severe current regulations, every calf is weighed, inoculated, examined and fed.
When the sorting and inspections are completed, calves are shipped to an Ecolait producer who will oversee their growth. Calves are always delivered the same day, to spare them from spending the night at the Allotment Center.
Each animal's well being is a fundamental and constant preoccupation for Ecolait.
All equipments, vehicles and the Allotment Center are inspected, cleaned and sanitized to avoid contamination. The ventilation of trucks is adjusted according to the current climatic conditions in order for the road to be stress-free for the calves.
All these procedures not only guarantee the producers' success but promise the finest of product.
